How to install Sophos Antivirus in WinRoute Firewall

This article is only applicable to Kerio Winroute Firewall 6. Kerio Control 7 features integrated Sophos antivirus.

Details

Sophos Antivirus (SAV) works with WinRoute Firewall on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.

To install:

  1. Download the trial version of SAV, or use your properly-licensed paid version.
  2. Install SAV. Refer to the SAV Evaluation Guide if you have any questions about installing the trial version.
  3. Go to the Start menu. Select Programs->Sophos Anti-Virus->Sophos Anti-Virus.
  4. Sophos Anti-Virus will appear. In the "Options" menu, choose "Exlusion List..."
  5. Click "Add."
  6. Click "Browse," then navigate to and select the Kerio WinRoute Firewall directory (Typically C:\Program Files\Kerio\WinRoute Firewall). Click OK.
  7. Click OK in all the dialog boxes and then close Sophos Anti-Virus.
  8. Open the Kerio Administration Console and connect to Kerio WinRoute Firewall.
  9. Go to Configuration->Content Filtering->Antivirus. Select the "Antivirus" tab.
  10. Click on "Select antivirus..." (near the top).
  11. Choose "Sophos Antivirus (SAVI 2.0)"
  12. Click "Check & OK." After a second, you should get a message saying "Antivirus started."
  13. Click "Test antivirus." You should get a message saying "Antivirus is working properly. Antivirus test successful."

Sophos Antivirus should now be working properly and scanning your firewall traffic!
